Research
The academic staff, students and adjunct staff of the Centre for International Health
boast a broad range of research and development activity, some of it world-leading
and across numerous countries, for example, Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh, East Timor,
Africa, India, Australia, Myanmar and Malaysia. In addition, some have extensive
experience working with indigenous, migrant and refugee communities in Australia
and overseas.
Specific areas of expertise include maternal and child health, health education,
tropical and infectious diseases, indigenous health, gender, human rights, HIV/AIDS,
monitoring and evaluation, health promotion and sexology. As a result of various
research projects, CIH has developed a broad network of national and international
contacts, both within Australia and internationally. A sample of the research output
of people associated with the Centre is reflected in the listings of publications,
grants and conference papers.
